Backyard Memories

A Poem by Isabelle B.
Backyard Memories
I see a group of people
who have ever been on it
I hear the fighting
over who got the first turn
I can hear the laughter
of when friends would fall
and get their pants solid brown
I can feel the bite marks
of Ollie’s teeth on the stick
I remember when my dad put it in
So many people questioned…
How?
All of these things
bring out the best
of an old back yard swing.
I see a group of people
who have ever been on it
I hear the fighting
over who got the first turn
I can hear the laughter
of when friends would fall
and get their pants solid brown
I can feel the bite marks
of Ollie’s teeth on the stick
I remember when my dad put it in
So many people questioned…
How?
All of these things
bring out the best
of an old back yard swing.
