Senior OMSI Trip - March 6th!
by Mrs. Nilsen on February 14th, 2014

Good morning all,
The Seniors are going on a field trip to OMSI on March 6th. One of the goals for the Science Fair this year is to transform MRA into an OMSI-like place with our exhibits during the fair.
Instead of just a board for someone to look at, this year students are required to have some sort of interactive piece to their exhibit or presentation. Perhaps it is a game for participants to play or something for them to touch. Students can have parts of their experiments right there for participants to feel, see, and do. Our goal this year is to bring science to life and to really teach the rest of the school and community about the topics we've studied.
We've discussed how to make science interactive a lot in class, but I think it would be helpful for students to experience it a bit more. OMSI is full of exhibits that are made to be interactive, informational, and fun all at the same time.
The price is $10 a student. We will take sack lunches and spend the day exploring the scientific world. Chaperone tickets are an additional $3 and you would need to drive yourself as there is just enough space on the bus for all the Seniors. If you are interested in being a chaperone, I need to know by Tuesday, February 18th so that I can reserve our tickets and get the school discount.
If a few generous parents or grandparents wanted to donate additional funds to our trip perhaps we could see an IMAX movie or visit the planetarium, in addition to just covering the cost of the bus and other trip related expenses.
I will send home a field trip form with all pertinent information next week. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me. I’m so looking forward to this fun day of learning and exploring with the Seniors.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Nilsen
