Science Fair Update
As you are well aware, we are quickly approaching the Science Fair. Final drafts of papers were due today (March 1st) and the fair is a short 2 1/2 weeks away. We had some crazy technology challenges with the computers this week. As there have been a few questions regrading different aspects of the assignments, I thought I'd send a quick note with some clarifications and reminders:
- The majority of the work due this past week week and next (paper and speech) are being taught, supported, and graded in English Language Arts classes. I am working diligently with the 6s, Mr. Oldham with the 7s, and Mrs. Cook has taken over for the 8s. The exhibit and logbook I will grade for all 6-8th grades.
- If you see on my Engrade the score of "ELA" that is to designate the assignment is being recorded in ELA class, and not in Science.
- There are four main assignments for the fair (Logbook, Paper, Speech, and Exhibit). Each will count towards 25% of a final grade for the project.
- I go into even greater detail about each of these four parts on in older blog entries (see the tag "Science Fair" to the right). If you still have questions after reading through the expectations, I am more than happy to talk with you directly.
Thank you for your continued support as we inch closer to March 20th.
P.S. - I'm looking for a few parent volunteers to help out before, during, and after the fair as well. If you're interested, please let me know!

Tests approaching
When we weren't working on our projects this week, we worked on finishing up our units (6s - Solar System; 7s - Genetics and Cellular Processes; 8s - Climate Change). The end of unit tests will be next week. We will finish the term with our work towards the fair.
IMPORTANT NOTE: The 8th graders will be doing OAKS testing for science the week of March 11 - 15th. Please make sure that your 8th grader is well rested that week. Thank you.
