8th Grade Transition

On Thursday, Jan. 31st, the 8th graders went to the middle school for a presentation that the high school put together. This presentation was supposed to prepare the 8th graders for high school.  This past Monday was another meeting about forecasting and information for the current 8th grade class.  Below is an interview by our class reporter and of one of the eight graders who attended the events:

Nathan - "So what did you do?"
Kaity - "We sat in a cafeteria and listened to students talk about the elective classes and their experiences."
Nathan - "What do you think was the most helpful thing you learned?"
Kaity - "About all the different electives.  I didn't know how many there were!"
Nathan - "Was there anything they didn't say that you were hoping to hear?"
Kaity - "If they said how fun it was and how nice the teachers are that's would have been nice."
Nathan - "Ok. Thank you."
Kaity - "Sure."

If parents or students have further questions about forecasting, what classes to sign up for, or anything about the 8th grade transition into high school please do not hesitate to contact our school counselor, Jessie Paulson (jpaulson@mra-k8.com).  She's fantastic and is in contact with the high school.  She is very dedicated to helping our 8th graders make the transition smoothly and successfully.  We're lucky to have her.

I can't believe it's already time for forecasting of classes for next year!  I'm not ready for our 8s to graduate yet.  I'll be very sad to have this bunch move on, even if it is to bigger and better things.

Leadership Group

There are two different age brackets for our MRA leadership groups - one for 2-5th and one 6-8th.  Here is an update of what the team has been up to from the 6-8th students, Linden and Lydia:

"We have 'conducted' or planed the last school assembly and thought it went well. We discussed what went well, and what we could do better on. Recently we have received the grant of several thousand dollars to help pay for a school garden. The younger leadership group have been working on designing the greenhouse and planter boxes we plan to build for the garden. We have been considering planting year-round fruits, veggies, flowers, herbs, etc. We were also pondering whether we should compost for the plants, if so we would put a bin in the cafeteria for compostable material. We are sure we will have fun with this!"

They lead different age groups in games.  Look at that smile!
Way to go Seniors on your first successful assembly.  A big shout out to Mr. Oldham too for helping make it happen!
Have a wonderful weekend MRA.  Looking forward to another grand week with you next week! - Mrs. Nilsen
