Our last week of "normal" homeroom

Homeroom Weeklys News 6/4 - 6/8

I will not cry.  I will not cry.  I....*sniff*....will not cry...

This concludes our last full week of homeroom class.  We packed it full of 8th graders working on their projects (giving speeches formally to the class for assessment and turning in all aspects of their 8th grade project), working on Goodbye posts for the blog, the 6/7s making presents for our 8s, finishing our Portfolios (as much as we can for this year, anyway), and lots of laughter.
We had an 8s only campfire yesterday evening and everyone was giggly enough that I didn't cry...well...much. I’d like to say a big thank you to Stacy Fox for letting us use your back yard.  It was a perfect location.  Thank you Robin Stafford for bringing all of the roasting sticks to aid our hotdog and s'more festivities.  We ate, we laughed, we shared, and it was beautiful.
We ended the year with some "Summerizing" the room, and finally our class party!  Mafia and movies, more laughs and silliness, and a very sweet tree planning.  The MRA plant girls got a Willow to plant in my honor as a surprise for me.  We planted it outside our room, where I hope to create an outdoor classroom for the Seniors next year.  We have such sweet, thoughtful kids here at MRA.

Today was our last day as a whole class as Monday and Tuesday will be crazy, busy days (see below) and I wanted to thank each and every one of you for making this first year of teaching one that will be nearly impossible to beat.  Watching you grow, change, learn, mature, struggle, shift, adapt, and come out successful has one of the most amazing experiences of my life.  Thank you, each of you.

I seriously don't know where the year went. MRA has been so very lucky to have had you on staff. Your positive energy and enthusiasm for teaching has certainly been a pleasure to see in action. The students, especially your homeroom, will benefit for years to come from their experiences in your classroom. Thank you so very much for a wonderful year.
